FAQ

Trade customer and volume pricing enquiries
Please contact us for pricing of the fixtures you are interested in by either filling out the enquiry form or emailing us directly at [email protected]

What is the lead time?
Each piece is made to order, lead times start from 6 weeks.
For urgent deadlines, please enquire directly at [email protected]

How warm is the light?
Our standard colour temperature is 3000K, a great balance between a warm soft light and functional output. We stock and can manufacture our linear pendants with a super warm 2700K (good for bars/restaurants) or 4000K (more commonly used in commercial office spaces). Please enquire for more info.

Do you include globes?
Our linear pendants use a high quality LED strip and do not require globes. Our ceiling pendants and wall lights do not include globes, as each setting has its own requirements with regards to output and colour temperature. We recommend a dimmable LED globe, with a selection available from any good hardware store.

Can I mix and match the Hat finishes?
The Hat Pendant (ceramic) can sit atop either a white or black base, whilst the Hat Mono (powder coat) is designed as a matching top and base only.

How long does the LED last?
Our LED is a high quality CRI90 strip, with a lifespan of approx 25,000 hours. Based on an average usage, this will last between 10–15 years. Rest assured, should it ever require replacement or service, the pendant can be sent back to us for a rebuild, at responsible cost.

Can the lights be used outside?
Unless specifically stated, our pieces are not IP rated for outdoor use.

What is the ceiling fixing?
We use a high quality integrated ceiling fixing (78mm dia x 37mm H), with a clever magnetic cover plate. This conceals all hardware at the point that the piece installs. This is available in black or white, to suit the flex colour options we offer.

Flush and concealed custom plate options are available by request but are dependant on suitable allowances being made in-ceiling. Please drop us a line to discuss further options.

Can I use the lights with a dimmer?
Yes, certainly. Our linear pendants will require a specific driver to be used with a dimming system – an additional cost option. We supply drivers for both Dali and Phase dimming systems. Please ask your electrical professional for their recommendation into the system before placing your order.

What is the warranty on South Drawn products, and what is your return policy?
For information on this, please check out our T&Cs page.

What payment methods do you accept?
Payment Method – Electronic bank transfer.
We use Stripe for credit/debit card purchases.

What are the specifications for power/light output for South Drawn pieces?
Each of our lights has a specification document that gives a detailed rundown on the piece. This also includes voltage, dimensions, light source (e.g. globe or LED), etc.

To find the spec sheet that applies to your enquiry, simply visit the product on our website – the pdf is found under downloads.

Can I customise/personalise South Drawn pendants? E.g. custom lengths or finishes.
For any customisations or personalisations, it’s best to get in touch with us directly.

Are there finish samples available?
We have powder coat and ceramic samples upon request. Get in touch with us at [email protected] and let us know which finishes you are interested in.

What height do you recommend for a hallway?
Generally, we recommend a higher installation in a traffic area such as hallways. Though it will always be determined on the dimensions of the space itself – specifically the volume – pendants in spaces such as this are most commonly installed at around 2000–2100mm.

Our pieces are supplied with 2000mm of cord as standard, which can be adjusted on site. We can provide customised flex lengths on request; please reach out for more information.

What height do you recommend for over an island?
As the installation over an island must serve both aesthetic and pragmatic needs, we recommend lighting to be installed at approx 1800mm, or near to eye level. This will always depend on the scale of the room and alternate light sources. It is best to consult a design professional for their guidance on this.

Our pieces are supplied with 2000mm of cord as standard, which can be adjusted on site. We can provide customised flex lengths on request; please reach out for more information.

What length do you recommend for an island?
Though the length of a pendant that hangs over an island is usually dictated by the scale of a room, we recommend a length of approx 500–1000mm short of the total island length. (ie. we recommend a 1500mm pendant over a 2000mm island, and a 2000mm pendant over a 3000mm island). This scale creates a balanced room aesthetic, maximises the functional light output, and still leaves circulation space at the ends of an island bench – a perfect spot to make a Gin & Tonic.

With the sliding scale of bench tops in projects, we do produce custom sizes also, in lengths up to 5000 mm. Reach out to our team for more information.
